Autumn breeze=Slow your speed!

Remember to SLOW DOWN so you don’t meet a farmer the Wrong way!! The air is getting cooler, the leaves are beginning to turn, hot fresh donuts from the Apple orchard and time to pull out the pumpkin recipes! Driving around you see fields getting cleared and as Tim mentioned at our last meeting we are officially in a drought. You can see the dust clouds following the farmers. Corn stalks coming down and crafters imagination is kicking into gear. Fall is here. Happy Harvest time. Have you decided your costume idea for our next meeting and Halloween party?

Barn Party

County Line Grange #1751 served couple a hundred guests at a Private Barn Party

Granger article by Linda Mullins

June 14th was our meeting date this month. Our hosts were Terry and Stephanie. They served us delicious sandwiches and desserts. Thank you. We discussed serving food at Relay-For-Life on June 3rd. Everyone enjoyed the food we served. There seemed to be a good turnout for this.
June 10th was Food Cart Frenzy for the food pantries. There was a lot of legal cheating going on, but everyone had fun for a good cause. Our shoppers blew our budget, but we know we are helping people who need it. Thank you JoEllen and Butch.
On the 22nd we met at the breakfast food stand at the fairgrounds to clean and paint. It is looking really good in there.
We need workers to help with serving breakfast 6 til 10 on Wed., Thurs., and Fri. during the week of the fair., and on Saturday for the chicken dinner.
County Line will also need volunteers at the Reed Schoolhouse and at the Granges Museum also that week.
Thanks to Terry and John for working on the Reed Schoolhouse shutters. I really appreciate you doing that.
Belvidere’s Heritage Days parade was June 25th. Our float honored Floyd Anderson with one of his antique tractors on a trailer. Butch and Becky used their truck and trailor to pull this for us. Some of us "Old Time Farmers" rode on haybales beside the tractor. We had a great time.
County Line is sponsering a contestant for the Little Miss Pageant this year for the fair. Our little miss is Taryn Bunting, age 6. She is Joellen’s granddaughter. She is beautiful, smart, and has a great personality. Good luck to her.
We will select our delegates for State Session at our next meeting. Seems like this is coming up too quick.
My husband has been real good about following his Dr’s orders. We won’t know until August 8th what they are going to do for him. They’re trying to strengthen his heart up now. He feels really good though. Said he’s going to grow some big vegetables for State Session. Thank you to everyone for the well wishes.
